HOWARD POLLACK President 405-364-3700 howard@pmgroupar.com
While attending Brooklyn College in the early 1970's, Howard Pollack started in the music industry as a high profile rock concert photographer whose photos appeared in many of the popular magazines of the decade. From there, he was introduced into the concert promotion business and started his own company in Colorado in 1972. For the past 23 years, Howard Pollack has been a name synonymous with successful, large venue rock and popular music concerts throughout the U.S. and more than 15 foreign countries.
In 1978, Howard helped to start the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheater and to convert a totally obsolete amphitheater, into a 9000 seat modern outdoor arena. Howard not only helped to renovate and updated the amphitheater, he was also instrumental in getting many of the city's civic-minded and growth-oriented companies and individuals to contribute a large portion of their time, money and energy towards the renovation project. Such a broad and extensive collaboration for renovation of a facility for the arts was unheard of in this region until this time. Since Howard's innovative use of this obsolete city amphitheater, many other spin-off projects were initiated to renovate obsolete city structures. The resulting renovation was a world class 9,000 seat amphitheater which presented such acts as the Grateful Dead, Dire Straits, Sting, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell to name a few. Howard worked this amphitheater, promoting concerts and bringing acts into the Oklahoma City area for 7 years following its inception.
In conjunction with this project, Howard started his own ticket agency; New Dawn Tickets, which sold tickets to all major events in this particular market. In addition to this, he expanded his business to include an advertising agency called Red Sky Advertising, which handled the advertising and public relations for his concerts and promotions throughout the Mid-West. Howard also began an entertainment newspaper by the name of Stagepass Magazine. The magazine became so successful; it evolved into the still popular Jam Magazine.
By 1985, Howard Pollack's reputation had reached the point where he was approached by the world-renowned heart specialist, Dr. Christian Barnard, to spearhead a series of benefits for the Heart Foundation. Howard was asked to book and produce these concerts featuring some of the most successful artists in the world, including Frank Sinatra, Julio Iglesias, Pavarotti, and Bill Cosby. This star-filled benefit series became the prototype for many of the other charitable organizations as well.
